How we record hotel EV charging information, and what our labels do and do not claim.
What we focus on
Night Current records practical hotel EV charging information: how many plugs exist, what connectors are installed, and the operational details that determine whether charging is usable overnight.
A charger is not a guarantee
A charger existing at a hotel does not guarantee overnight availability. Access rules, guest-only restrictions, idle policies and occupancy all affect whether a plug is free when you arrive.
Hotel identity and station identity are separate
Public charging datasets describe stations, not hotels. We keep the two records separate and only publish a hotel page once a station has been associated with a lodging property.
Total plugs
Total plugs reflects structured connector records, summed from the recorded plug count of each connector at the property. We do not estimate or infer plug counts.
Charging record last confirmed
“Charging record last confirmed” reflects the known confirmation date for the charging information we hold. It is not a guarantee that a charger will be available on arrival.
AFDC listing last seen
“AFDC listing last seen” means Night Current recently observed this station in the current AFDC/NLR public dataset. It tells you the listing is still present and how recently we checked. It does not confirm the charger is working today, and it is separate from “Charging record last confirmed”, which is the source’s own underlying detail-confirmation date.
Overnight charging
Overnight charging displays Yes or No only where the underlying record states it. Where we do not hold that information, it displays “Not yet verified.”
Overnight Score and Data Confidence
Overnight Score describes the quality of the overnight charging experience. Data Confidence describes the freshness and reliability of the underlying data. They are separate structured concepts and are shown only where values exist; we do not fabricate them.
Arrival Success
In future, traveler-reported Arrival Success data — whether someone actually got a plug on arrival — may help measure the real-world likelihood of charging at a property.
When information is incomplete
Where critical information is missing, travelers should confirm charging requirements directly with the hotel before relying on it.
Independence
Night Current is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any mapping provider, government dataset, charging network, hotel brand, or travel booking company.
